JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Ensure the Operations & Engineering Team to carry-out the daily funicular / cable car operations and maintenance;
- Provide leadership and management to a team of funicular / cable car engineering and maintenance staff to raise the level of technical competency, skills and teamwork;
- Coordinate, plan and lead projects to improve the operational efficiency, safety and reliability of funicular / cable car services, and direct the integration of technical activities to accomplish Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) operational goals;
- Formulate, develop and improve funicular / cable car engineering system, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and strategies for system enhancement;
- Flawless execution of scheduled maintenance plan and inspect funicular / cable car and drive systems for defects and investigate failures and implement pertinent mitigation measures;
- Identify related technical problems and persistent issues and carry-out root cause analysis as well as engineering solution for long term solutions;
- Oversee and manage the sourcing and supply chain to drive down operations cost and enhance reliability and safety;
- Liaise with oversea vendors to evaluate, select and apply the appropriate solutions or sub-assemblies for permanent improvement of quality and costs;
- Provide timely reports and feedback to PHC management and to work closely with General Manager in all technical and operations related aspects;
- Enhance safety standards and promote safe work practices on all operations and activities.

- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or related engineering discipline. Advanced qualification in relevant engineering field would be an advantage;
- Minimum 8-10 years management experience in Operations & Maintenance; Fault Diagnosis; Root Cause Analysis (RCA); Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) experience of railway / ropeway systems, mechanical, electrical, control systems, electro-mechanical system; familiar with PLC programming & system design/troubleshooting; familiarity with Asset Integrity Management (AIM), FMEA, RCM, would be advantageous; managing projects. Familiar with Life Cycle Costing (LCC) concepts and practices. Preference would be given to candidates with hands-on experience in any or all of the above scope;
- Demonstrate strong hands-on experience in maintenance, safety and project management practices; Experience and versatility in innovation and/or innovative repair ideas would be a distinct advantage;
- Strong command of language skills (written & spoken) especially English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential; communications with overseas equipment suppliers is required and strong in report writing skills;
- Candidates must possess very good analytical skills, discipline in applying engineering methodologies and resourceful problem solver;
- Familiarity and versatility with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is mandatory;
- Motivated, matured personality and self-driven individual with a strong commitment to integrity, professionalism and teamwork;
- As funicular / cable car service operates under extended hours daily for the residents and tourists, candidates must be prepared to occasionally work on weekends and public holidays as well as standby in case of emergency and special request.
