Lembaga Kemajuan Tanah Persekutuan or Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) is a government agency of Malaysia that address resettlement of rural poor into new areas developed in order to improve the economy they are. The agency focuses on opening smallholder farms for cash crops . Felda schemes not only dedicated to helping poor Malays but also some of the earliest as Felda LBJ and Felda Lurah Bilut accept as multiracial Chinese and Indians, as well as Sabah and Sarawak Felda settlers whose multiracial and descendants form a large number of Malaysians. By 2000, Felda worked the land of 9,000 square kilometers, mostly oil palm plantations. Although the main objective is to reduce poverty Felda rural areas through resettlement, it reportedly also holds minority interests in a number of leading bank in Malaysia.
